BOTOX^® Cosmetic

Botox^® Cosmetic is Dr. Best’s preferred product for the treatment of facial wrinkles caused by muscle activity in the upper face, also called active wrinkles. Injections are done as an outpatient procedure in our Bay Street office, by Dr. Timothy Best. It is one of our most popular procedures! Botox^® Cosmetic is an excellent choice of treatment for upper facial wrinkles, particularly those of the forehead, glabellar region (between the eyebrows), and periorbital region (crow’s feet). The treatment gradually takes effect over 3 to 4 days, and remains effective for 3 to 4 months. Repeat treatments in many patients can gradually be spread out to 2 or 3 times per year, depending on each individual’s response to the medication and the degree of correction they are comfortable maintaining.

Botox^® Cosmetic is onabotulinumtoxinA, a sterile form of purified botulinum neurotoxin type A that has an excellent safety profile, and a long history of successful usage for treating these wrinkles. The medication blocks the release of acetylcholine from the nerve terminals, which then relaxes the muscles and the skin wrinkles they form.
